Geospatial Coordinator

GreenCollar is seeking an exceptional Geospatial Coordinator (GIS) to join our dynamic team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio, the GIS Coordinator will work closely with the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification and Geospatial teams, and collaboratively across the business to ensure timely delivery of geospatial tasks, and to ensure technical integrity and innovation is maintained to a high standard with respect to geospatial deliverables.

The location for the role is flexible. The position will be in our Sydney head office or remotely from anywhere else in Australia for the right candidate.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Employing a range of GIS interpretation techniques and software to analyse spatial and non-spatial data to identify potential Carbon Estimation Areas under a range of different project eligibility requirements both across Australia, and internationally (if required)
  • Finalise the spatial design of environmental projects at different scales and across a variety of landscapes in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Design and prepare maps, survey packages including but limited to those required for project registrations, on ground surveys and project assessments
  • Generate maps and mapping data sets for reporting, monitoring, and research for use both internally and externally by GreenCollar
  • Drafting and/or reviewing the geospatial components of project reports
  • Assist with modelling geospatial data inputs using assessment tools
  • Developing a series of new extrapolated state datasets based on multiple data sources for use in opportunity identification
  • Working with the Heads-Of and Project Quality Managers in assisting with the preparation of data, presentations, and/or responses to meet external auditing requirements/requests and assisting with the preparation of data and/or responses in regard to internal RFIs, and Clean Energy Regulator RFIs
  • Coordination of Geospatial Task Queue – for self and direct reports (if applicable)
  • Review geospatial work/deliverables to ensure technical robustness prior to distribution
  • Support data management within database and other systems ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal and external quality standards e.g., migrate spatial files and ensure they are up to date
  • Drafting, updating/maintaining, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures with respect to geospatial workflows and deliverables when required
  • Work planning and resource planning to ensure direct reports have clear workplans, workloads are being managed and skills are developed and improved in line with business plan requirements
  • Provide training and guidance to direct reports, and team, when required with respect to geospatial workflows and task requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • A tertiary qualification in remote sensing, geospatial science, GIS or physical science or similar with specific coursework or relevant work experience in remote sensing, image processing
  • Awareness of new and revised legislative and regulatory changes that impact existing and emerging project portfolios
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and application of LiDAR/Point Cloud processing, ESRI or other GIS software, 3D modelling
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge with image analysis tools such as ENVI version 5 or higher and/or SNAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel and Word
  • Superior work ethic with drive and passion for positive environmental outcomes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate data to meaningful information for reporting and analytical purposes
  • Demonstrated experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously, having the ability to prioritise workload and adapting to revised deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as SQL, R or Python
  • Statistics and sampling design experience
  • Experience in conducting research e.g., literature reviews and case studies
  • Experience in process automation and integration
