North west of Bourke in New South Wales, Lincoln and Dimity Old have successfully combined carbon farming with livestock farming and seen the benefits flow through to their whole property.
The financial security their carbon project affords means they have been able to reduce grazing pressure across the land – not just within project areas – and have been rewarded with recovery of vegetation across the station and more productive grazing.
The carbon income has also provided much needed support during long periods of drought, and the Olds are happy to see the synergy of agriculture and carbon farming being adopted across the Western Division.
