We’re looking for a Support Specialist – Information Technology, to join our IT team. Reporting to the IT Manager and collaborating with cross-functional teams, this position involves a blend of hands-on technical support and infrastructure management. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting technical challenges, enhancing operating standards and processes, and contributing to overall efficient IT operations.

The core function of the Support Specialist is to provide a crucial onsite IT presence. This involves ensuring daily technical stability and supporting team productivity by offering expert desktop support, managing infrastructure, and assisting end-users. The role requires close collaboration with IT leadership and users to deliver consistently high-quality technical support, thereby enabling smooth business operations.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

Desktop and Infrastructure Support

  • Comprehensive day-to-day technical support
  • Provide timely desktop support for both Mac and PC users onsite.
  • Manage local IT infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Resolve hardware, audio/visual (A/V), and network connectivity issues.
  • Maintain and support cloud-based directory services.
  • Utilise command-line interfaces, scripting, and remote tools to execute technical tasks.

Technical Problem Resolution and Documentation

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, networking, and user connectivity problems, escalating complex issues with well-defined recommendations.
  • Provide Technical Support & Resolution: Diagnose and resolve technical issues across various systems and platforms.
  • Manage Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and a knowledge base to record solutions for common issues.
  • Escalation and Reporting: Escalate and thoroughly document unresolved issues with clear problem descriptions.
  • Process Implementation: Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent support delivery.
  • User Education: Deliver end-user training on new hardware and software applications.

 

Infrastructure and Systems Management

  • First-line technical support and troubleshooting for end-user hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting for end-user hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Monitor and maintain local IT infrastructure components
  • Support cloud-based services and directory management
  • Execute technical tasks using command line tools and scripting
  • Assist with network connectivity and A/V system maintenance
  • Ensure proper configuration and maintenance of office technology

You’ll likely bring:

 

  • Proven diagnostic and resolution skills for technical issues across Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Strong ability to diagnose hardware, software, and network connectivity problems.
  • Adeptness in implementing solutions focused on improving system efficiency and user experience.
  • Proficient in Audio/Visual (A/V) support, including setting up and troubleshooting conference room equipment, screens, and audio systems.
  • Experience with directory services (both on-premise and cloud-based) and using cloud management tools.
  • Proven capability in utilising scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate routine technical tasks
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple requests
  • A proactive mindset and interest in improving systems and processes
  • Relevant IT certifications or qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
